Interview and more filming!

 As of last night I did an interview with my cast for my social media. The interview was very well done but Carlos was being a bit of a nerd so I had to cut some stuff out (no he wasn’t I’m just making fun of him). I edited and uploaded the interview to youtube. Making the interviewing questions were very quick and… well last minute created. I think the interview video came out really good, I added clips from the project and finally started color grading. I used this as a social media post for content since… well my posts are super inconsistant.

POSTER RE-DONE RUAGHHHH

 HAHAHAHA AND IT'S BETTER THAN LAST TIME.

The only critique I have for it is to make the title pop a bit more but I'm stumped on how to do it. But what I did to it this time was playing around with the stamp tool a bit more to take out the distractors of the image. This helped centralize focus on the main subjects and the title. 

That's all I did today aside from planning my next filming session which is tomorrow so I will update you on that once the deed is done.

Poster is gone.

 Damn. I was really needing this to be here after the day I had. Apparently I didn’t save my poster that I spent an hour on and lost the project :). I have absolutely no words and cannot even begin to describe my disappointment. It’s fine.. I got a sexy picture the other day before my actors left me to go on their spring break trip (i know how inconsiderate)

Although this picture is yummy yummy scrumptious, we had car trouble after the shoot which was really funny because it wasn’t me this time. But we were all tired and just wanted to go home after a couple hours of filming.

We sat there and waited for the twins dad to get there to jump the car but it didn't work. But fret not, I did not abandon them until their dad was there for a while because Carlos had work (smh). We did get some filming done though and I got the final shot of the trailer. I do want to re shoot with a better sky and it’s going to EAT.

 Thats the end of spring break, I go to school on Monday so I really need to just relax these last two days so you wont hear from me until most likely Tuesday. Until next time <3

 

Social media update!

Consistently posting on social media is harder than anticipated. I’ve been trying my best to push out content and posts but for some reason I’ve just not been able to. All of my posts feel lack luster and just not… good. Im not huge on posting on my own social media pages so this is a huge struggle for me. When I do post I try to really present a professional, production studio kind of page (which is what my research was for the whole thing). 

The posts have been successful enough and they work I just need more. It’s hard when I am the only one doing it since I tend to focus on one thing and hyper focus on it. I just got the blogging thing down but the social media is a whole different beast. I just need to be more consistant.

Poster teaser completed

 I did it WOOHOO!! I finally was able to sit down and finish a teaser poster to perfection. This took so many tries and a lot of scheduling issues with the actors and just a lot of issues with photoshop. This may not look like a lot but it took about an hour to complete with THIS picture (i have like 8 drafts). The masking tool was not cooperating because of the bench and although the sky is cloudy im happy with the outcome 

I’m going to pump this out in the morning on my social media page and go to bed right now because im so tired. I’m going to start on the teaser trailer some time this week or next since I have enough footage for that. YIPPEE IM ONE STEP CLOSER TO BEING DONE!

Stoklosa meet &Shooting!!

 This is a bit old but I did meet with Stoklosa to talk about my project. She gave me some pointers on what to do and some touch-ups I have to make. The first of which is the plot. She said that I should really capitalize on how Madison wants to grow to be her own person after identifying her issues and wanting to get out of it and become her own person. I really liked this because... well it just makes sense, it also adds a lot of things I can do and I can really play around with the character and how Madison is portrayed. 

After this talk, I decided to finally start to shoot. I gathered my actors and went back to our park, but with two tiny issues... I forgot my mic and I grabbed the wrong tripod. But fret not for I just gathered clips I will put voice-over on. The clips themselves are pretty raw and discolored because it was a gloomy day so I do intend to re-shoot those shots. But if you're interested I will post them right here.

After filming, however, Breana and Sydney had some car issues. Their car wouldn't start so we were stuck at the park for a bit longer than expected.

SUCCESSFUL SHOOTING

 

Shooting was successful! We went to our local park and started taking pictures. Some will need to be re-shot since… I took them in landscape on accident but they still look pretty good. For each of the pictures I’ll describe what I did and my thought process through it. 

 For these kind of pictures are for the character posters that will be used as promotional pieces posted on social media to let the audience get excited about the movie.

Another process picture, but carlos was getting eaten by ants on the tree so we had to get the shot quick. Not the best shot but it just needs a bit of editing.

This is Tina character poster. I chose one that she was smiling in since thats the persona she has all of the time, but with the shadow on her face to show that something darker is happening.

After the shoot we decided to go to chilis and eat a bit. Carlos got super excited when he saw that Avengers Endgame was playing, he turned around so quick it gave me second hand whiplash.

This is the photo I want to use for the actual poster. The lighting, silhouettes, and backgrounds work together so well, and the suns positioning works so well.   

This would be a perfect thumbnail for hulu, just needs some color correction and editing then its perfect.

Photoshoot tomorrow!!

 As the week comes to a close, time really starts to let itself be known. I need to plan and schedule when I’m going to shoot for my posters. I went to the group chat I made with all of my cast members, and set a time and date for them. 

As I was waiting for confirmation I started to do research, what streaming service makes movies like the one I’m producing. I saw that Hulu does a lot of coming of age stories. Last class Tstok told us that we can choose to do a theatrical AND streaming service release, it would be more posters but its an option. Something you should know about me is, I LOVE taking pictures so this was the one for me. As it came for time to decide what I was going to do. I’m going to do both streaming service and theatrical since I want to be able to win an academy award (it’s not going to happen but yk… never hurts to try). The shoot tomorrow will consist of character portraits, thumbnail and actual trailer.

Writing and planning my spring break away.

 I have completed my first draft of a script. I should put a disclaimer that I'm not the best writer and it's extremely hard for me to translate my vision into words, so it's not going to be the best thing ever. As I was writing the script I thought it would be a good idea to write out the names of the characters and the actors. But, without further ado, here's the first (terrible) attempt at a script.

As you can see, there's a reason I went with no dialog with my last project. I want to go over this with Stoklosa tomorrow and work on it over the weekend.

As far as planning to shoot goes, I have worked out a schedule with my actors to film the teaser and shoot for the posters. Although I'm super busy on Saturday, I was able to find time on Sunday to take these pictures and try to start filming a bit. 

I'll be back to update you on what Stoklosa says about my script and potentially let me know what I need to so to fix it because lord knows I need it.

Into the depths of twitter

 For my digital portion of the project I decided to create a Twitter account rather than an instagram. I did this because I feel like it’ll be easier to do. Twitter doesn’t require me to post pictures to send out content to my community. Also, interacting through retweets, comments, and quote tweets are a good way to really announce what I’m doing and give insight to the audience.

As I was creating the twitter account, I needed to finally come up with a title and font. I decided to ask around and brainstorm. I was talking to John, who is also in this class, and came up with the first draft of the title. My thought process to making this was, a long title that doesn’t really correlate to the story which is where I came up with… The sun always sets at the horizon. Yeah… not the best I know, but I revised it and put in more thought into it making it into “The Sun Sets At Noon”. So now, what does that title mean? Well in the story, Tina and Madison both are at the peak of their struggles and thats when they both comfort each other, ending their conflict and support each other through their tough times. Noon symbolizes their struggles and issues at their peak, and the sun setting at that point in time symbolizes the issues coming to an end.

The search for the perfect font.

 As I was thinking about what the title should look like I was listening to a song, the song being skinn by Zach Templar which sounded like how I wanted the film to look. I know that makes no sense to others but it does to my brain soo... anyway, I was feeling the song and thought "Man, this song feels like it would be a handwriting kind of font... WAIT A MINUTE!" After this, I went straight to google and searched "handwriting fonts" and found the holy grail. Butter press was the perfect font for me, it had the handwriting style I wanted, and looked like it was written with a marker that was running out.

I felt like the font fit perfectly with the title and the style the film is going for. It looks like it's written by a teenager, which is exactly what I want the film to look like.

I have decided to totally drop the character of Alex and focus only on the twins. I feel like it'll be easier since I already have the actors and I don't need to lose my head trying to find someone to play Alex. Rather, we're going to give Tina all of Alex's issues because I feel like we need some redeeming qualities in someone who is such a terrible person. 

I have a plan to start production, at least for the teaser and posters this weekend since I need content for social media. Man this is a lot to do on my own, but I got this.
