Genre Research Activity
The genre of Action is a very big and marketable genre. It has very fast pace, intense scenes that keep the audience on the edge of their seats. This genre is usually paired with other genres to make it more interesting and to keep audiences coming back. There are some very big movie franchises out there that just stick with the action, an example being Mission Impossible. This is a franchise that does action well and keeps people coming back for the next movie. Have you ever wondered why Tom Cruise is the face of the franchise? It's because that's one of the best ways they market the movie, they cast huge stars to play the main role and keep them in for audience satisfaction. In the action genre, they use a lot of drone shots to show a lot of the action happening at once, especially in car chases and high points during an action sequence. This genre is paired with drama usually giving the movie higher stakes. You can see this done very well in the James Bond franchise. In about every James Bond movie there is always a love interest that gets captured and gives the rest of the movie a very intense feel to it. There are also pure action movies such as Mission Impossible, John Wick, and Rambo, where there is usually very little storyline and very high action. Movies like these are usually heavily marketed as, "The movie of the summer." or critics giving the movie high ratings. These movies make a lot of money too, especially the ones that have re-occurring actors, such as, Borne Identity, The Kingsmen, and The Matrix. These movies have been and will be popular for a long time since it is purely based off of entertainment. Target audiences also make a huge difference in success when in the industry. These movies usually pertain to young men ages 16-25, which explains the fast pace, violence, and sexual content in these movies.
